Psyche Systems Introduces PocketPath™ Mobile Access to Lab Diagnoses
Pocket PC Software Gives Doctors Point of Care Access to Completed Pathology Cases via PDAs for Improved Patient Care

Milford, Mass., Sept. 8, 2003 - Psyche Systems Corp. today announced the introduction of PocketPath, a new mobile application specifically designed to allow physicians to access pathology diagnoses for completed WindoPath™ cases via a Pocket PC personal digital assistant (PDA). PocketPath gives doctors immediate, point-of-care access to diagnostic results that empowers them to make decisions about treatment, order additional tests, and quickly and easily answer questions to help patients better understand their medical concerns. PocketPath enables laboratories using Psyche Systems' WindoPath industry-leading anatomic pathology information system to offer clients a powerful new tool to maximize the time they spend caring for patients.

"At a time when doctors are expected to do more with fewer resources in a shorter amount of time, they can't afford to wait by a printer or a fax machine or even a telephone for important test results," said Betty Judge, CT (ASCP), director of WindoPath product marketing, Psyche Systems Corp. "Today, doctors are constantly on the move, spending more time with more patients. Mobile applications like PocketPath are important tools to allow them to do just that."

PocketPath is easy to install on any handheld device using the Pocket PC 2002 or Windows Mobile 2003 operating systems with a simple set-up program that allows the physician to access his/her completed cases in the WindoPath database via the Internet or a direct network connection. To ensure the accuracy and confidentiality of the patient's test results, each physician must log in with a unique user name and password for proper identification in order to securely retrieve completed cases. PocketPath allows physicians to search on cases by patient name, date-of-birth, collection date and other demographic parameters. Physicians can store and access up to three months of cases on average - or more depending on available disk space, which makes viewing historical data associated with a particular patient fast and easy. Specific application requirements are available on the Psyche Systems' Web site at www.psychesystems.com.

PDAs are increasingly becoming important professional tools as technology advances continue to offer healthcare providers new ways to deliver better care to more patients easily and cost-effectively. Universities, government agencies, and healthcare professional organizations are adopting PDA technology to deliver important point-of-care information and to provide bedside learning to medical students. According to a new study from IDC, due in part to the industry's focus on adopting technologies to improve patient safety, IT spending among healthcare providers in the United States will increase from $15.1 billion in 2002 to $17.3 billion by 2007.

PocketPath provides a secure view of diagnostic results from cases completed in WindoPath, the industry's most sophisticated anatomic pathology and cytology information system that includes many advanced and custom-designed features and services as standard elements, such as voice capabilities, image management and tumor staging. WindoPath is a client-server-based application for complete case processing with CLIA compliance and HIPAA-related security and privacy provisions. WindoPath is a proven system for case development and reporting, deployed in hospitals, private laboratories, clinics, group practices and other healthcare settings worldwide.

Windows Mobile software, including Pocket PC and Smartphone, seeks to enable intelligent communications: not just connecting devices, but connecting people and their data so they can get things done. Windows Mobile solutions reduce the complexity and constraints that hobble the flow of personal and business communications, helping individuals and organizations achieve their productivity goals.
