Psyche Systems Introduces the Latest Version of Its WindoPath™ Anatomic Pathology Information System
New Features Reflect the Evolving Role of the Pathology Lab in Diagnosing and Treating Patients
Milford, Mass., Oct. 6, 2004 – Psyche Systems Corp. today announced that the latest version of its industry-leading WindoPath™ anatomic pathology information system will be commercially available in January 2005. New features reflect the evolving nature of pathology testing by incorporating the ability to add clinical results from instruments such as Flow Cytometry, Cytogenetics and Molecular Diagnostics to provide physicians with a more comprehensive patient diagnosis. Additionally, WindoPath Version 6.0 also includes many new features designed to improve ease-of-use, minimize the potential for errors, and enhance the marketability of physician reports. Psyche Systems will preview the new software at the APIII 2004 Conference & Exhibition this week at the Marriott City Center in Pittsburgh.
Combined, Psyche Systems' customer-guided product development process and WindoPath's high-level of customization provide laboratory staff with advanced functionality and greater ease-of-use. WindoPath 6.0 offers many new and enhanced features, including:
- Ancillary Test Reporting: Ancillary testing, such as Flow Cytometry, Cytogenetics, Molecular Diagnostics and other types of instrument results, can be included in all pathology and cytology reports. Each instrument interfaced to WindoPath can be signed out independently and provisional reports released until all ancillary testing is finally completed, at which point a comprehensive report is generated.
- Flexible Table Creation: Tables can be created on the fly or easily added from a predefined library of tables for presenting clinical results, instrument results, or synoptic reporting, etc.
- Automatic File Attachment: Digital images, dictation files and other types of documents – that may aid the physician in identifying and treating specific types of tumors, for example – can be automatically appended to a patient case for more comprehensive reporting, accuracy and record-keeping.
- Streamlined Image Capture: WindoPath automatically attaches digital images from any type of camera to the appropriate case using identifiers such as case number or specimen letter in saving the image. Standard image types include instrument images, gross images, specimen images and consult images.
- Easily Customized Reports: Laboratory staff can easily generate an infinite number of client-specific report types and formats for every physician the laboratory serves.
- Laboratory Notes: WindoPath includes a place within each case for the laboratory staff to include private notes for internal review only that cannot be printed along with the reports.
WindoPath is the industry's most sophisticated anatomic pathology and cytology information system that includes many advanced and custom-designed features and modules, such as Vox Pap™ interactive voice software, PocketPath™ mobile access to patient diagnoses, and Web-based reporting and remote order entry. WindoPath is offered as a client-server-based application or as a hosted service through Psyche Systems' eXerva™ software delivery model, and features complete case processing with CLIA compliance and HIPAA-related security and privacy provisions. WindoPath is a proven system for case development and reporting, deployed in hospitals, private laboratories, clinics, group practices and other healthcare settings worldwide.
