Advanced Customization

Psyche Systems has delivered personalized service and high quality products to hospitals and clinics since 1976, helping laboratory environments run more efficiently and cost-effectively. As part of its commitment to high quality products and services, Psyche Systems solicits input from its customers, both informally and formally through its User Symposium, to ensure greater ease-of-use and advanced functionality by leveraging emerging technologies. Its cost-conscious product development and pricing ensure Psyche is delivering the best solution for the best value.

Combined, Psyche Systems' customer-guided product development process and the software's high-level of customization provide laboratory staff with advanced functionality and greater ease-of-use. The advanced level of customization inherent in the design of Psyche Systems' products means that the software adapts to the lab environment not vice versa, as is the case with other laboratory systems.

Account Management
As the primary customer liaison to Psyche Systems' service and support staff, the account manager assigned to each customer site keeps the primary contact for that organization updated on information about new features or upgrades available from Psyche. Conversely, that person also serves as the initial sounding board for customer recommendations on how to improve Psyche's products and services, and fields any requests for custom programming – working with the programmers on the specifications.

Interfaces
Psyche Systems' HIS Interface Group can develop and support custom interfaces to any commercial or homegrown hospital information system, practice management or other clinical system, or billing software that is based on HL7 or an industry standard ASCI delineated format. Additionally, Psyche can provide interfaces to most medical instruments commonly used in both the clinical or anatomic pathology laboratory settings, as well as reference labs and results reporting applications. Psyche's Interface Group can custom develop an interface that allows laboratories to place orders to, and receive results from, any external Reference Laboratory.

The philosophy of the Instrument Interface Group is “if it has an output we can interface to it.” The team creates interfaces that achieve efficient and error free data transfer for a variety of laboratory instruments including pre-analytical devices. The Instrument Interface Group works with customers to match the interfaces to their workflow. Psyche has a large library of programmed interfaces, which includes most of the major instruments being sold in the United States and Canada today. For those instruments not in this library, the Interface Group has a modular interface development process that enables fast turnaround on requests for new interfaces. It also has an ASTM template that allows easy interfacing to any ASTM compliant instrument.

User Symposium
Psyche Systems' Bi-Annual User Symposium provides a unique forum for innovation and best practice sharing among its customer base. Part of the three-day event is dedicated to a Focus Group discussion of the new features and functionality that users would like to see built into future versions of the products. The users are presented with a long list of new proposed features. This Focus Group usually evolves into a lively discussion about the pros and cons of each proposed feature and the future direction of the technology.

Additionally, Psyche Systems' development teams present new ideas that the company has devised through its research or via the feedback informally collected from customers throughout the previous year. These interactive sessions also provide a forum for discussion and spark additional idea sharing between Psyche developers and the user base. This process provides the company with the opportunity to solicit customer input on new features and functionality prior to development. Psyche follows these surveys closely in prioritizing future development. Such surveys are also conducted from time to time outside the auspices of the Symposium. Such Wish Lists may determine features for new versions of the software or the features may find their way onto update CDs.

System Design for Ease-of-Customization
Psyche Systems believes that customers should have the power to determine lab workflow. The lab system should not change the existing workflow; it should simply enhance it. Psyche Systems' products are designed to allow for the laboratory manager to easily customize the look and “rules” guiding the workflow of the systems. During the Implementation process, Psyche's professional trainers work closely with system managers at the laboratory to empower them to fully utilize the software's customization capabilities and preference libraries for their organizations.

Psyche Systems designs its products with an inherent flexibility that allows the user and/or laboratory to implement its preferences. However, Psyche Systems also provides advanced customization services when a more significant modification is desired. Due to the superior internal design of its products and a staff experienced in satisfying customer needs, Psyche can quickly and cost-effectively modify its applications to meet just about any customer request.
